Family Ministries
Small Group Ministries
At Wolf Creek Church we believe it’s important for every person to feel like they are part of a larger family. This is why we promote and organize “Small Groups”. Based on the Bible’s model of “house churches”, small groups get together to build relationship with each other and with God. The ultimate target of this unique ministry is our friends, neighbors and co-workers, who either don’t know Christ, or who have fallen away from Him; and it’s for the WHOLE Family – parents and kids and singles all together in one place.
A small group is a safe place where a person can laugh, cry, study, worship, sing, pray, eat, drink, mourn, talk, work, and serve together. Basically it’s “doing life together”.
Family Fall Education Series
Each fall we offer a six week education series for the entire family. The series runs for six Sundays evenings starting the beginning of September. The classes will begin at 6:30 and end around 8:00pm. Five different classes are being offered each night for the adults, along with selections for youth and children of different ages.
Adult Classes: The adult classes are geared to be interactive with most classes using a video and leader to help facilitate the discussion. Each class is its own six week course which people are encouraged to attend. Below are some samples of the classes offered this past year. We try to introduce new classes each year for variety.
- Prayer: Does it Make a Difference? – In this Video Series by Phillip Yancey, Yancey tackles some tough questions regarding prayer and its importance in the Christian Life. This series focuses more on the importance and necessity of communicating with God rather than different techniques of prayer.
- Reformed Faith Discovery Series – Using the book Quest for Faith by Robert De Moore as a guide, this class will discuss some of the different aspects of the Reformed Faith and how it pertains to our lives. This class would be an excellent class for those who are looking for a greater understanding and/or appreciation of the Reformed faith.
- Go Fish – We've all heard them. "It was this big." "You should have seen the one that got away." People love to tell stories of their fishing adventures. When it comes to faith, however, most people clam up. Why is it we can't talk about what God has done in our life as naturally as we can spin fishing tales? This new study by Andy Stanley will take the struggle out of sharing your faith. Go Fish offers a new perception of the word "evangelism" by showing how believers can make it a natural, easy part of everyday life
- The Love-Dare Video Series – is a response to the popular movie FIREPROOF. The Love-Dare video series uses exclusive video clips from FIREPROOF along with thought-provoking discussion questions to challenge couples to grow deeper spiritually and in their relationship to each other. “In a world that attacks, devalues, and redefines relationships every day, learn how to rescue and protect your marriage from the firestorm. Take The Love Dare and FIREPROOF your relationship.” - http://thelovedarebook.com *Due to the personal nature of the Love-Dare series, this class is limited to six couples.
- Money Matters Series – Do you find that there is more month than your money allows for? With budgets stretched and a time of insecure finances this course promises to be a benefit for all. The Stewardship Team, with the help of Maria Johnston, is hosting this course which will look at our money habits from a Christian perspective. Topics will include communication, good/bad debt, budgeting, credit, and retirement planning.
- Worship 101 – Modeled after the popular “Children & Worship” curriculum, we are offering Worship 101. This 6 week session will combine theory and application around the topic of worship. Theory will focus on questions such as: What is worship? How does the church tell time? What are the different church seasons? What are parables? And what are different ways we can worship? For the application part, six Bible stories will be presented in a multi sensory style followed by both interactive and individual time of responses. This is the first time we are offering Worship 101 and promises to be informative and enjoyable for all who join.
Youth and Children’s Classes
Junior High Youth
LOVE OUT LOUD – What better way to start the year off then with love: Loving ourselves, God and our Neighbor. Each week will be a different adventure of love, from a food run to something called "selling all your possessions". Sound Intriguing? Then join Tara and come on out to Tim Horton's at 6:30!
Kindergarten to Grade 6
The Kids Program will once again be a musical called "The Secret of How to Grow in the Lord." We need enthusiastic children & youth who are excited about singing, and if they're not singers, then we have some narration & acting parts as well. Each week we will practice songs & the drama, and also include a mix of games & activities, Bible and/or Object lessons, and may even have a craft once or twice.
